The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Activity League (SAL) was established in 2000. We are dedicated to providing a common meeting ground for deputies, citizens, and youth of Santa Cruz County in the area of leadership, sports, educational and recreational activities. Our goal is to foster and encourage in our community's youth, faith in American principles and in the traditions of sportsmanship, good will and friendship, and to promote a constructive relationship between youth and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.

APTOS High School June 8 - June 12, 2026 The Junior Sheriff’s Academy is a no-cost weeklong summer program designed for incoming 6th and 7th graders to experience the world of law enforcement in an engaging and interactive way. Hosted by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, the academy provides hands-on activities such as physical training, CSI techniques, first aid and CPR, defensive tactics, and a mock police investigation. Students also get to witness a K9 demonstration and tour a local fire department, giving them a broader understanding of public safety roles.

Every Donation Matters
Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Activity League is governed and operated by volunteers. We rely on donations and sponsorships from businesses and individuals to provide much needed services to at-risk youth in our community. Seven hundred youth ages 5 to 18 years are served annually participating in activities such as FIT SAL (a relays program), FUT SAL (indoor soccer), Tennis, and Junior Giants Baseball. All activities are provided free of cost to participants. Without donations serving youth in our community would not be possible. Donations can be made directly to the organization through the provided link or by check (payable to Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Activities League). As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, your generous contribution is fully tax-deductible.

Classic Car Show
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Sheriff’s Activity League, is hosting its first-ever Car Show on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Capitola Mall (former Sears side). This show is for classic cars 1975 and older. Enjoy local food vendors and a beer garden during the event.
2nd Annual Golf Tournament
Join the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Activity League for the 2nd Annual SAL Golf Tournament. This event brings local supporters, and partners for a day of golf, networking, and purpose-helping advance SAL programs that serve youth throughout Santa Cruz County.

Junior Sheriff Academy
The Junior Sheriff’s Academy is a weeklong summer program designed for incoming 6th and 7th graders to experience the world of law enforcement in an engaging and interactive way. Hosted by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, the academy provides hands-on activities such as physical training, CSI techniques, first aid and CPR, defensive tactics, and a mock police investigation. Students also get to witness a K9 demonstration and tour a local fire department, giving them a broader understanding of public safety roles. San Lorenzo Valley High School graciously allowed us to use their facilities and pool for the program, providing an excellent environment for the participants to learn and train. Beyond acquiring practical skills, students developed confidence, teamwork, and leadership while building positive relationships with law enforcement officers. The program concluded with a community service project and a graduation BBQ, where families celebrated their children’s achievements. Due to its success and strong support from parents, there are plans to expand the program to other areas of Santa Cruz County, ensuring more youth can benefit from this unique and educational experience.

Junior Giants at Home registration is NOW OPEN! Sign up for our first virtual season and bring the fun of the field to your home. During the 4-week season, Junior Giants learn the fundamentals of the game and are introduced to important lessons in health, education & character development! The live, age-specific practices include indoor friendly exercises, Word of the Week talks and training videos from the @SFGiants coaching staff! Let’s root for the home team - sign up now!

Junior Giants, June 8 - August 3, 2019
Junior Giants is more than just baseball. With the help of coaches and teammates players learn about the Four Bases of Character Development - Confidence, Integrity, Leadership and Teamwork - as well as the importance of Education, Health and Bullying Prevention, or what we also refer to as respect. This is an 8 week program (1 practice and 1 game per week) that serves children 5 to 13 years of age.
2018
FIT-SAL , March - June
This relays and activities program serves children 6-14 years of age. Participants engage in team games, relay races, and real challenges all while learning life skills.
Junior Giants, June 9 - Aug 4
Junior Giants is more than just baseball. FUT-SAL, June 11 - August 1
This in-door soccer program gives boys and girls ages 5 to 18 years a place to play soccer three times per week. The program is a collaboration between the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Activities League, Live Oak Community Resources, and the San Jose Earthquakes. Registration starts in May.
